LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) today released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
ARMED ROBBERY: At approximately 8 p.m. on April 12, 2007 a black male in his twenties, approximately 5'10" with a thin build, entered the Esperanza Shell in Lexington Park and approached the clerk. He displayed a handgun, removed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and fled the area. St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is currently investigating the incident.
ARREST IN ARMED ROBBERY OF CAB DRIVER: On April 13th at approximately 3 a.m., detectives from the St. Mary's County BCI arrested William Jerome Swales, 27, from Great Mills Maryland, for the March 18th incident when a cab driver was robbed at knife point in Great Mills. He was charged with Armed Robbery, First Degree Assault, and Theft under $500.00. He was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
ARREST IN THREE ARMED ROBBERIES: On April 14, 2007 at approximately 10:14 p.m. a suspect entered the Callaway Shell in Callaway Maryland. He displayed a handgun and demanded money from the store clerk. The clerk chased the suspect from the store and he fled on foot. Detectives from St. Mary's County BCI responded and pursuant to their investigation located Otis Scorpio Williams, 22, from Lexington Park, at a residence in Piney Point Maryland. He was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Armed Robbery for the Callaway Shell robbery, the April 12th robbery of the Esperanza Shell in Lexington Park, and the April 4th robbery of the Pegg's Road Shell in Lexington Park. He was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
