LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On March 31 at 1:25 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs Officer T. Yates conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Stratus after it failed to stop for a stop sign on Strauss Avenue at Hawthorne Road in Indian Head. The vehicle fled from Officer Yates and crashed into a fence behind a residence on Jameson Court. The driver ran from the car but was quickly apprehended. The vehicle had been left in gear and was stopped by a tree nearby. Investigation revealed the driver, Nathan Ellsworth Proctor, 23, of Indian Head, had a suspended license and was intoxicated. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana, drug paraphernalia and two open alcohol containers. Ellsworth was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving while impaired, driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding, driving on a suspended license, speeding and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. No one was injured.
STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On March 30 at 8:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the report of a strong-arm robbery. Investigation revealed the victim, a 41-year-old Waldorf man, was walking in the 3200 block of Westdale Court in Waldorf when he was approached by two male suspects. They punched him numerous times and stole his wallet, which contained a drivers license and an undisclosed amount of money. One suspect is described as a tall, light-complexioned black male with braided hair. He is young and was wearing dark clothing. No description is available for the second suspect. DISTURBING THE PEACE: On March 28 at 5:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the 1700 block of Brightwell Court in Waldorf for the report of a group of individuals standing on the sidewalk yelling and screaming. Upon arrival, officers ordered the individuals to quiet down and leave. Four individuals refused and were arrested and charged with failure to obey lawful order, disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct. Robert Leroy Thompson, 18, of Temple Hills and Marcus Antonio Butler, 22, of Waldorf were held at the Charles County Detention Center before posting $3,000 bonds. A 17-year-old Temple Hills boy and a 14-year-old Waldorf girl were charged as juveniles and released to their parents.
HATE CRIME: Sometime between 8 am. March 28 and 8 a.m. March 29, suspect(s) wrote KKK 4 Life in pencil on the wall of a bathroom stall at John Hanson Middle School located at 12350 Vivian Adams Drive in Waldorf. The schools other bathrooms and classrooms were checked for additional writings and none were found.
