PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - Police in Calvert County today reported that the Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food restaurant on Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick was robbed around 5 p.m. on Friday, March 16. The lone robber made a safe getaway with an undetermined amount of cash gained from one of the cash registers.
Officers from the Calvert County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police Barrack "U" initially responded to the restaurant. Members of the Calvert Investigative Team (CIT) were called and began interviewing the employees and patrons inside the store. Employees advised police that a black man, dressed all in black, entered the store and held them up at gunpoint.
Police say they were told that the robber had barricaded himself inside the women's restroom. Upon learning this, the restaurant was cleared of the 5 employees and 4 patrons. A search of the restaurant determined that the suspect was not in the restroom nor anywhere else inside.
Police then continued the interviews with employees and patrons upon which they concluded that the suspect had exited the store by the side door. He apparently fled on foot in an unknown direction.
