LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
FLEEING AND ELUDING: On March 14 at 12:25 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs Officer R. Gilroy observed a vehicle speeding south on Route 210 in Indian Head. The vehicle sped away before the officer could stop it and briefly left the road at the intersection of Strauss Avenue and Route 225. Officer Gilroy lost sight of the vehicle near Parker Harley Place and Strauss Avenue. At 12:53 a.m., Sgt. S. Walsh observed two suspicious persons walking toward North Prospect Avenue nearby. As officers were talking with them, she also observed a suspicious vehicle parked on North Prospect Avenue. The vehicle had grass clippings embedded in the undercarriage and was determined to be the same vehicle that eluded Officer Gilroy. One of the individuals walking was the driver of the vehicle, Robert Isaiah Cole, 19, of Fort Washington, and investigation revealed he was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and did not have a license. The other individual, a juvenile, was found not to be involved in the previous incident. The juvenile was released to his grandmother and Cole was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, negligent driving, speeding and driving without a license. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district commissioner.
