LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriffs Office announced that they served 20 arrest warrants between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 4 during a warrant sweep conducted in Prince Georges County. Additional warrants were also served prior to and after the operation.
Officers from the Sheriffs Offices Judicial Services Section, Tactical Response Squad, and K9 Unit conducted the sweep with assistance from four correctional officers, a police communications officer, a civilian warrant specialist, four Maryland State Police troopers and eight Prince Georges County Sheriffs Office deputies. In addition to the warrants, five detainers for individuals being held in Prince Georges County and West Virginia and a Virginia Governors Warrant were served.
As a result of investigation before the sweep, 15 other warrants were served prior to the operation. Additionally, five wanted individuals who were not located during the sweep turned themselves in the following day after learning of the warrant service attempt.
The warrants were for crimes ranging from traffic violations to felonies.
