Charles County Sheriff’s Office Serves 46 Warrants During Sweep


LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff’s Office announced that they served 20 arrest warrants between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 4 during a warrant sweep conducted in Prince George’s County. Additional warrants were also served prior to and after the operation.

Officers from the Sheriff’s Office’s Judicial Services Section, Tactical Response Squad, and K9 Unit conducted the sweep with assistance from four correctional officers, a police communications officer, a civilian warrant specialist, four Maryland State Police troopers and eight Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies. In addition to the warrants, five detainers for individuals being held in Prince George’s County and West Virginia and a Virginia Governor’s Warrant were served.

As a result of investigation before the sweep, 15 other warrants were served prior to the operation. Additionally, five wanted individuals who were not located during the sweep turned themselves in the following day after learning of the warrant service attempt.

The warrants were for crimes ranging from traffic violations to felonies.

Anyone who has information about a wanted person in Charles County is asked to call the Warrant Fugitive Unit at 301-932-3065 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or 301-932-2222 during other hours.
