LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
HOME INVASION: On March 6 at 10:26 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 9200 block of Poorhouse Road in Port Tobacco for the report of a home invasion. Investigation revealed a white male wearing dark clothing, a black motorcycle-style jacket and a black motorcycle helmet knocked on the door of the residence and advised he needed help. When the resident, a 45-year-old man, did not immediately open the door, the suspect forced entry into the home. He then brandished a handgun and robbed the man of property. The suspect fled the area on a red and black, newer model, racing style all-terrain vehicle. K9 teams, community policing officers operating ATVs and a Maryland State Police helicopter conducted a search of the area but did not locate the suspect. PURSUIT/DWI: On March 6 at 2:35 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs Officer D. Almassy observed a vehicle traveling 91 mph in a 55 mph zone on Crain Highway near Faulkner Road in Glasva. When a lookout for the vehicle was dispatched, Sgt. Schmidt observed the vehicle make a u-turn nearby. Officer Almassy observed the vehicle pass through his radar again at 85 mph and attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle failed to stop until the driver had turned around again and reached Conoy Place. The driver was identified as Michael Thomas Anderson Jr., 46, of Clinton. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, negligent driving and speeding. He was taken into custody without incident and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Feb. 26 at 1:24 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs Officer D.L. Behm was conducting a foot patrol in the 300 block of Goose Creek Drive in La Plata when he observed a group of males and smelled the odor of marijuana. Investigation revealed Nico Matthew Adams, 18, of La Plata was smoking marijuana and in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.
