LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
INJURED PEDESTRIAN: On Feb. 27 at 6:46 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Pinefield Road in Waldorf for the report of an injured pedestrian. Investigation revealed Joseph William Barnes, 59, was backing his 2002 Pontiac Sedan out of his driveway when the vehicles rear passenger tire struck his wife, Sonia Bakalian-Barnes, 50. She sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown to Prince Georges Hospital Center by a Maryland State Police helicopter. The incident appears to be accidental. Cpl. S. Burrows and Officer S. Stanley of the Traffic Operations Unit are investigating.
BURGLARY: Sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27, suspect(s) forced entry into a residence in the 6700 block of Dolphin Court in Waldorf and stole a semi-automatic handgun, three revolvers, ammunition, jewelry and cameras. The handguns had been secured in a safe, which was also forced open.
