MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 12:49 pm, TFC Linger and Tpr. Evans observed a blue Honda Civic traveling on Rt. 247, in the area of Busy Corner Road in Morganza exceeding the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Richard Ramon Dent, 26, of Mechanicsville. Tpr. Evans observed marijuana in the vehicle. Mr. Dent was arrested for possession of marijuana and a CDS smoking device. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 8:42 pm, TFC Rezza and Tpr. Pilkerton responded to a reported trespassing complaint in the 21000 Pegg Road in Lexington Park. Contact was made with the Assistant Manager of the Apartments, who provided a copy of a No Trespass Notice for a David Lee Garrison, 50, of Lusby. Mr. Garrison was served on January 31, 2007. Mr. Garrison was located in an apartment and was arrested for trespassing. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Friday, February 16, 2007 at 2:36 am, TFC Trossbach observed a gray Oldsmobile Cutlass failing to drive in a single lane. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, William Alford Tyler, 51, of Seat Pleasant, Maryland. A routine check of Mr. Tyler's driver's license revealed he was driving on a suspended Maryland license. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Tyler resisted arrest and was later subdued with the assistance of Tpr. Brill. Mr. Tyler was found to be in possession of a plastic bag of marijuana. He was arrested for possession of marijuana and driving while suspended. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Friday, February 16, 2007 at 3:34 pm, TFC Linger & Tpr. Evans observed a black Pontiac Firebird on Rt. 245 in Leonardtown following another vehicle too closely. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Robert Lake Laquay, 21, of Lexington Park and a 20 year old female of Hollywood. Marijuana was observed in plain view on the center console. A search incident to the arrest revealed a cellophane bag of marijuana and a plastic straw with cocaine residue were located in the vehicle. The female passenger was released at the scene. Mr. Laquay was arrested for possession of marijuana, cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 11:12 am, Cpl Vanhoy and TFC Nims responded to a report of a domestic assault in the 45000 block of Krystal Lane in Lexington Park. Upon arrival, contact was made with the complainant, a 38 year old female. She advised two boys had been fighting. During the course of the investigation the suspect Donald Wade Balch, Jr., 18, of Lexington Park was arrested for assaulting the younger boy. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Monday, February 19, 2007 at 12:12 am, TFC Trossbach observed a white Pontiac Grand Prix exceeding the posted speed limit on Rt. 5, north of Rt. 234 in Leonardtown. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Dewayne Marcell Countiss, 27, of Leonardtown. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath and person. During the course of the traffic stop Mr. Countiss was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The passenger was later identified as Natasha Maureen Kelly, 21 of Lexington Park. A search incident to arrest revealed a small plastic bag of cocaine powder and two rocks of crack cocaine in the vehicle. Ms. Kelly was placed under arrest. A search incident to the arrest revealed Ms. Kelly was also in possession of additional CDS and CDS paraphernalia. Both subjects were incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
