When Officer E. Scuderi arrived on the scene to assist, he opened the driver’s door and ordered the driver out of the vehicle. The driver drove away, dragging the officer a short distance. The officers returned to their cruisers and pursued Davis, who soon after crashed into a traffic light pole at the intersection of Leonardtown Road and Post Office Road. Davis was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, theft valued at more than $500, having a handgun in his vehicle, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, fleeing and eluding, and several other traffic charges. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
