LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Feb. 4 at 12:30 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs Officer D. Almassy conducted a traffic stop on Crain Highway near Charles Street in La Plata after observing a traffic violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Ronald Oliver Carter, 25, of Washington, D.C., was in possession of marijuana. Carter was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.
INTOXICATED DRIVER: On Feb. 3 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs Officer J. Clagett was patrolling Crain Highway near La Plata when he observed a vehicle traveling more than 90-mph in the opposite direction. Officer Clagett turned around and began pursing the vehicle, which did not stop. The vehicle turned onto Turkey Hill Road and the driver proceeded to his residence on Windsor Drive. When the vehicle stopped, Officer Clagett ordered the driver out of the vehicle and took him into custody without further incident. Investigation revealed the driver, David Elliott Yoezle, 38, of La Plata, was intoxicated and his license was suspended and revoked. Yoezel was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license, driving with a revoked license, failure to obey a traffic control device, speeding, failure to obey a lawful order and fleeing and eluding. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: Sometime between 12:01 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Feb. 1, suspect(s) stole a white 1994 GMC Jimmy from the driveway of a residence in the 800 block of Indian Head Avenue in Indian Head.
