MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On Friday, January 26, 2007 at 9:50 pm, TFC Trossbach observed a 1988 Ford Escort on Rt. 245 south of Rt. 235 in Hollywood. The vehicle had several safety equipment violations and a traffic stop was initiated. While speaking with the driver, Elton Lee Zeone, Jr., 24, of Mechanicsville, a homemade CDS smoking device was observed. Mr. Zeone was charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia on a Criminal Citation and issued an equipment repair order for the equipment defects.

On Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 1:39 am, TFC Linger observed a 1997 Mercury Cougar traveling southbound Rt. 5 in the area of Rt. 236 in Charlotte Hall exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine traffic stop was initiated and contact with the driver, Ibithihaj Shahidah Brooks, 28, of Chaptico. TFC Linger observed in plain view marijuana in the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, TFC Linger found a partially burnt marijuana cigar. Ms. Brooks was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where a cellophane bag of marijuana was found on her person. She was incarcerated pending a bond review.

On Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 1:00 pm, TFC Laney responded to the 21000 Baja Lane in Great Mills for a reported domestic assault. Contact was made with the female complainant, 45 of Great Mills. She advised the suspect, a 16 year old male of Great Mills had assaulted her. After speaking with the suspect, he was arrested and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack where he was processed and later released to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office on an outstanding warrant.

On Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 6:03 pm, Tpr Shughart was patrolling Rt. 235 in the area of Morganza Turner Rd. She observed the tag light inoperable on a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, a 16 year old male, of Mechanicsville and the passenger, Jonathan Daniel Lyon, 21, of Mechanicsville. A routine wanted check revealed that Mr. Lyon had an outstanding Bench Warrant through MSP Leonardtown for failing to appear for driving an uninsured vehicle. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Lyon was in possession of marijuana. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
