LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
THEFTS: Sometime between 11 p.m. Jan. 14 and 9 a.m. Jan. 15, suspect(s) stole audio CDs, gift cards and loose change from seven unlocked cars parked at residences on Duley Drive and Timothy Court in White Plains. DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On Jan. 14 at 12:28 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the Super 8 Motel located at 4694 Indian Head Highway in Indian Head for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed a 28-year-old Indian Head woman and her 40-year-old boyfriend were arguing when he assaulted her. Officers arrested the boyfriend and charged him with second-degree domestic assault. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer C. Stuff investigated.
ATTEMPTED STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Jan. 14 at 12:39 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the VFW located at 9370 Crain Highway in Bel Alton for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed a 55-year-old Bel Alton woman was walking to her car when she was approached from behind by the suspect, who assaulted her and attempted to steal her cell phone. The victim screamed and the suspect fled the area on foot. The suspect is 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and WAS wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment. ARMED ROBBERY: On Jan. 12 at 6:40 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Rooks Head Place in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a boy and girl, both 16 and of Waldorf, were walking on Wakefield Circle near Amber Leaf Place when a vehicle drove past them and stopped. Four suspects then exited the vehicle. Two of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the boys jacket. The victim resisted and a struggle ensued. The suspects did not get the jacket but they stole the girls purse before fleeing the scene. The suspects are described as four males wearing black jackets and masks. The vehicle is described as an older-model burgundy Ford Taurus. MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On Jan. 12 at 5:57 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs Juvenile Intervention Officer J. Vaino was traveling east on Marshall Corner Road near Pomfret Road when a deer attempted to cross the road and struck the drivers side of her cruiser, breaking the window. Officer Vaino was transporting a Juvenile Probation Officer and a juvenile detainee to Cheltenham Youth Facility at the time of the crash. Officer Vaino and the Probation Officer sustained minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center, where they were treated and released. The juvenile was not injured and another officer transported the juvenile to the Cheltenham Youth Facility. Sgt. C. Rye investigated.
