LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.
On Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 2:12 pm, TFC Trossbach was patrolling on Morganza Turner Rd. in Mechanicsville when he observed 1996 Ford Escort cross the center line twice. A routine traffic stop was initiated for the traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver, Michael Darnel Thompson, 43, of Mechanicsville. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. Further investigation revealed Mr. Thompson was in possession of a metal, homemade CDS smoking device with cocaine residue. Mr. Thompson was arrested for DWI and possession of a CDS smoking device. He was issued a Criminal Citation for possession of a CDS smoking device.
On Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 5:26 pm, TFC Quade was patrolling the area of Pegg Road in Lexington Park. He observed a 1995 Ford Thunderbird car traveling west bound on Pegg Road exceeding the posted speed limit. As a routine traffic stop was about to be initiated for the speed violation the passenger exited the vehicle prior to it being stopped. When she exited the vehicle she sat on the curb. The driver, John Raymon Williams, Jr. was contacted and a routine check of his driver's license revealed his privileges to drive in Maryland were suspended and revoked. The passenger, Robin Ann Laabs, 35, of Mechanicsville was acting were very suspicious. Further investigation revealed a metal smoking device on the passenger side of the vehicle. Mr. Williams was cited and released. Ms. Laabs was charged with possession of a CDS smoking device and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.
On Friday, January 12, 2007 at 4:20 pm, TFC Linger was patrolling on Route 5 in Mechanicsville when he observed a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice. The driver, James Thomas Goble, Jr., 23, of Mechanicsville, was not restrained by the seat belt and the windshield was cracked. A routine traffic stop was initiated for the equipment violations. A strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed a glass CDS smoking device was located in the vehicle. Mr. Goble was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.
On Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 5:55 pm, TFC Linger was patrolling on Old Village Rd. in Mechanicsville when he observed 1986 Ford F-150 pickup truck pull into a private drive. A routine check of the registration plate indicated the vehicle was not currently registered. Contact was made with the driver, Joseph Ignatius Templeman, 55, of Waldorf. A check of Mr. Templeman's license revealed his driving privileges in Maryland were also suspended. Mr. Templeman was arrested for driving while suspended. A search incident to arrest revealed a corn cob pipe with marijuana residue in the pipe on his person. Mr. Templeman was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown and charged with driving while suspended, possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
