Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

CDS VIOLATION: On December 29 at 8:05 p.m. a 17-year-old juvenile was charged on a youth report with possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Dep. John Harms responded to the scene after citizens notified the Calvert County Control Center that juveniles were smoking CDS outside of the Southern Community Center on Appeal Lane in Lusby. The juvenile, of Friendship, was released to the custody of a guardian.

CDS VIOLATION: Cpl. Kenneth Gregory arrested Joshua E. Peeling, 18 of Hollywood and charged him with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after conducting a search of the vehicle he was a passenger in on December 30 at 1:03 in the morning. Cpl. Gregory was on routine patrol in the area of Driftwood Beach in Lusby when he conducted the stop on the vehicle.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Dep. Richard Cox was dispatched to The Bad Fish Bar on Charles Street in Solomons on December 30 at 2:00 a.m. for a reported intoxicated and unruly female. Upon arrival, Cox located Rebecca H. Grooms, 24 of Solomons acting in a disorderly manner. She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and indecent exposure.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A victim on Dresser Avenue in Prince Frederick advised DFC Todd A. Smith that two window panes in a louvered door of her home had been broken but nothing appeared to be missing from the home. It occurred sometime between December 29 at 2:00 p.m. and December 30 at noon. Smith will continue the investigation.

THEFT: Two victims who had parked their vehicles in front of a home on Huntingtown Road in Huntingtown had items stolen from their unlocked cars between December 30 at 3:00 p.m and December 31 at 12:30 a.m. Over $1400 worth of items, including a Sony radio and a Clarion stereo, were stolen. DFC John "Marty" McCarroll is handling the investigation.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Edwin A. Bradley responded to a traffic accident at Ball Road and August Drive in St. Leonard on January 1 at 6:00 p.m. The driver of the at fault vehicle, a sixteen year old St. Leonard male was found to have marijuana, a knife, alcohol and cigarettes. He was charged on a youth report with possession of marijuana, possession of a concealed deadly weapon, possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor, possession of tobacco by a minor and released to a parent. A sixteen-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was charged on a youth report with theft after it was discovered she was in possession of prescription medication she had stolen from her grandmother. She was released to a parent.

CDS VIOLATION: DFC Richard Figueiras arrested Kevin M. Sweeney, Jr., 23, of Owings for theft after he was caught shoplifting movies and shaving razors from the Dunkirk Safeway on January 3 at about 6:00 p.m. An alert shopper observed Sweeney putting the items, valued at over $300, under his jacket and she alerted a cashier. DFC Figueiras arrived and observed Sweeney near the entrance of the store. He observed Sweeney to be in possession of the stolen items, he then arrested him and returned the items to Safeway.

THEFT: A victim on Ridgeway Terrace in Prince Frederick had a 100-gallon propane tank stolen from the side of his residence between January 3 and 5. Dep. Elvis A. Carter will continue the investigation of the $300 tank.

CONCEALED DEADLY WEAPON: A sixteen-year-old male was found to have a butterfly knife in his possession while he was sitting on the deck of the North East Community Center in Chesapeake Beach. DFC Eric Basham was on routine patrol at 12:25 a.m. on January 6 when he observed a group of juveniles on the deck who acted suspiciously upon seeing the patrol car. The juvenile, of North Beach, was charged on a youth report and released to a parent.

CDS VIOLATION: DFC Gary Ward conducted a traffic stop in the area of HG Trueman Road near Dowell Elementary School in Lusby on January 6 at 8:10 a.m. The driver, later identified as Kimberly A. Eatmon, 33, of Lusby, was found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended and revoked license. A search incident to arrest revealed suspected cocaine. Eatmon was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.
