LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Jan. 8 at 9:15 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 3800 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf for the report of a strong-arm robbery. Investigation revealed the victim, a 16-year-old Waldorf boy, was walking on railroad tracks in the 100 block of Smallwood Drive in Waldorf when he was grabbed from behind and knocked to the ground. Four suspects kicked him, stole a portable CD player, a cell phone and cash and then fled the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment. SCHOOL BUS CRASH: On Jan. 8 at 7:08 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to Leonardtown and Renner roads in Waldorf for the report of a school bus crash. Investigation revealed a 2005 Dodge sedan driven by Austin C. Guagliardo, 18, of Waldorf, turned left onto Leonardtown Road from Renner Road, failing to yield the right of way to Keller school bus #601, driven by Teba L. Coates, 26, of Waldorf, which was northbound on Leonardtown Road. The Dodge struck the drivers side of the bus, causing minor damage. The bus had 36 students onboard from Thomas Stone High School. The driver of the Dodge and his two passengers, a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, both of Waldorf, are students at Thomas Stone High School and were on their way to the school. No one was injured. Cpl. S. Burrows is investigating.
ARMED ROBBERY: On Jan. 7 at 3:24 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the 190 block of St. Patricks Drive in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery on a bike path. Investigation revealed the victim, a 30-year-old Waldorf man, was walking on the bike path when he was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects brandished a handgun, choked him, stole money and fled the scene.
At 8:44 p.m., Sheriffs officers responded to the same location for the report of a strong-arm robbery. Investigation revealed another victim, a 30-year-old Waldorf man, was walking on the same bike path when he was approached by three to five suspects who punched and kicked him. The victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
