MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 12:13 am, TFC Quade was patrolling Rt. 235 north of Pegg Road in Lexington Park. TFC Quade observed 1997 Green Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine traffic stop was initiated for the traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver, Andrew Miguel Melendez, 18, of California. Further investigation revealed Mr. Melendez was in possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was issued a Criminal Citation and released at the scene.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 9:55 am, Cpl. Vanhoy was responding to the 40000 block of Magee Drive in Leonardtown for a report of unauthorized use of motor vehicle. He observed the 1988 Buick Regal, Texas registration traveling south bound Rt. 5 in Leonardtown. The vehicle was stopped on Moakley Street in Leonardtown. Telephone contact was made with the female victim, 64, of Leonardtown who advised Mr. Ghiloni was driving the vehicle without her permission. Contact was also made with the driver, Roland Blake Ghiloni, 36, of Leonardtown. After further investigation, Mr. Ghiloni was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Ghiloni was in possession of a schedule III narcotic. He was also charged with possession of CDS and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

On Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 3:20 pm, TFC Linger was patrolling Rt. 235 in the area of Rue Purchase Road in Lexington Park when he observed a 1998 Jeep Cherokee exceeding the posted speed limit and the driver was not wearing his sealbelt. A routine traffic stop was initiated for the traffic violations. Contact was made with the driver, Anthony Allen Paterno, 20, of Hollywood. Further investigation revealed Mr. Paterno was in possession of CDS paraphernalia, a metal smoking device with marijuana residue. Mr. Paterno was arrested for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

On Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 4:59 pm, TFC Linger was patrolling Rt. 246 in Lexington Park when he observed a 1987 Ford Bronco with a cracked windshield. A routine traffic stop was initiated on the 1987 Ford Bronco for the cracked windshield. Contact was made with the driver, Travis Howard Smith, 26, of Mechanicsville. Further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of 7 small baggies of heroin. Mr. Smith was charged with possession of heroin and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

On Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 11:45 pm, Tpr. McCartney responded to the 26000 block of Loveville Road in Mechanicsville to serve a bench warrant for failing to appear on traffic charges. Contact was made with the defendant, Garett Alphonso Fenwick, 42, of Mechanicsville and he was placed under arrest. Further investigation revealed Mr. Fenwick was in possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Fenwick was arrested for the charges on the warrant in addition to possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Fenwick was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

On Friday, January 5, 2007 at 5:58 pm, Tpr. Adams was patrolling Rt. 5 north of Leonardtown. Tpr. Adams observed the driver of a 1995 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck was not wearing his seatbelt. A routine traffic stop was initiated for the seatbelt violation and contact was made with the driver, Jonathan Craig Rainey, 24, of Leonardtown. A check through MVA revealed Mr. Rainey's driving privilege was both suspended and revoked in Maryland. Mr. Rainey was arrested for driving while suspended and revoked. A search incident to arrest of Mr. Rainey's vehicle revealed he was in possession of marijuana and a 10mg tablet of methadone. Mr. Rainey was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Friday, January 5, 2007 at 9:23 pm, TFC Nims responded to the area of Valley Court in Lexington Park for a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival a large crowd was observed. Two black males were fighting. Contact was made with the suspect, Michael Anthony Somerville, Jr., 24, of Lexington Park. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected emitting from Mr. Somerville's breath. After further investigation, Mr. Somerville was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He was later transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.

On Saturday, January 6, 2007, TFC Evans was patrolling Rt. 235 in the area of Airport Drive in California. He observed 2003 Dodge Durango failing to drive in a single lane. A routine traffic stop was initiated for the violation. Contact was made with the driver, William Taylor, 45, of Suitland. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath and person. Further investigation revealed Mr. Taylor was in possession of a plastic bag of marijuana. Mr. Taylor was arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana. Mr. Taylor was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.
