MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 7:16 pm, Lt. Cedar and Tpr. Koock responded to the 37000 block of Mohawk Drive in Charlotte Hall for a report of malicious destruction of property in progress. Upon arrival, Lt Cedar observed Tanner Vincent Mills, 18, of Hughesville spray painting a business door. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Mills had spray painted the word "TRIKS" on the rear doors of several establishments in the area. Tpr. Koock arrested Mr. Mills for malicious destruction of property. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 10:40 am, TFC Evans was patrolling Rt. 235 in the area of Rt. 247. A routine traffic stop was initiated on an Oldsmobile Cutlass because the driver was not wearing his seatbelt. The driver was identified as, Marshall Delgado Butler, 36, of Bushwood. A check through MVA indicated Mr. Butler's driving privileges were suspended. Mr. Butler was arrested for driving on a suspended license. A search incident to arrest revealed 2 small plastic bags of marijuana on the rear passenger floor of the vehicle. Mr. Butler was transported to St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Friday, December 22, 2006 at 6:38 am, Tpr. Long responded to the 20000 block of Clarence Gass Road in Abell for a report of malicious destruction of property to a motor vehicle. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) shattered the driver's side window on a Chevrolet Suburban. Nothing was tampered with or taken from the Chevrolet Suburban. A Toyota Land Cruiser has similar damage on Golden Thompson Road. Some currency was removed from the Toyota. Investigation continues.

On Friday, December 22, 2006 at 7:24 am, TFC Rezza responded to the Maryland Rock, Inc. in the 21000 block of Abells Wharf Road in Leonardtown for a report of a theft and malicious destruction of property. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) took a Delco AM/FM/CD radio and speakers from a Caterpillar Excavator. Three portable fire extinguishers were removed from the heavy equipment vehicles and discharged in the cabs of the equipment. Investigation continues.

On Friday, December 22, 2006 at 9:44 pm, TFC Linger responded to the 22000 block of St. Clements Circle in California in an attempt to serve a warrant. Upon arrival contact was made with Brian Antonio Lowery, 27, of California. Confirmation was made that Mr. Lowery was wanted by the Charles County Sheriff's Office in La Plata for failing to appear on driving while suspended charges. Mr. Lowery was arrested on the warrant. A search of Mr. Lowery's person revealed a partially burnt marijuana "roach" in his jacket pocket. Mr. Lowery was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 6:23 pm, TFC Trossbach was patrolling on St. John's Road in the area of Cedar Lane in Hollywood when he observed an ATV 4 wheeler traveling on the roadway. A routine traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the operator, William Howard Burns, 53, of Hollywood. Further investigation revealed Mr. Burns' driver's license was suspended and revoked. He was arrested for driving on a suspended and revoked license. A search revealed Mr. Burns was in possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Burns was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 7:52 pm, TFC Linger was patrolling the area of Rt. 5 & Rt. 235 in Mechanicsville when he initiated a routine traffic stop on a 1995 Saturn GL for an equipment violation. Contact was made with the driver, Brian Michael Whittington, 21, of Mechanicsville. Further investigation revealed some loose marijuana on the rear passenger floor of the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted of the vehicle and a plastic film canister containing suspected marijuana was located underneath the driver's seat. Mr. Whittington was arrested for possession of marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Sunday, December 24, 2006 at 9:05 pm, TFC Linger was patrolling southbound Rt. 5 in Charlotte Hall when he stopped 1988 Ford Tempo displaying switched tags. Contact was made with the driver, Charles Edward Taylor, 50, of Mechanicsville. A of the vehicle revealed 2 plastic bags containing trace cocaine. Mr. Taylor was arrested for possession of cocaine and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
