St. Mary's County BCI Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

On 12/20/2006, Detectives from the St. Mary's BCI arrested Justin Xavier Varlack, 23 years of age of Leonardtown, for First Degree Assault. The arrest stemmed from a shooting incident on Joan drive in California, Md. that occurred on 11/04/06 wherein the suspect fired rounds from a handgun at an occupied residence. The incident resulted in several search and seizure warrants being conducted and stolen firearms were recovered. Varlack was held pending a bond hearing with the District Court Commissioner.

During a six month investigation, members of the BCI conducted many hours of surveillance on a residence in the Avenue area of St. Mary's County. Based on the surveillance, two search and seizure warrants were obtained.

On 12/15/2006 members of the BCI Narcotics Unit conducted surveillance on the residence. At 3 p.m., with the assistance of the St. Mary's County Emergency Services Team, St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, and St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the two search and seizure warrants were executed. The following items were seized: Marijuana 32.2 grams; Crack Cocaine 4 grams; Powder Cocaine 1.4 grams; and $2,504.00 in U.S. Currency.

No arrests were made at the scene. A review with the St. Mary's County States Attorney's Office will be conducted and charges are pending.

On December 19, 2006 members of the St. Mary's County BCI Narcotics Unit, along with the assistance of the Maryland State Police and Sheriff's Office Road Patrol units, executed a body and vehicle search warrant in Lexington Park, St. Mary's County, Md. The search warrants stemmed from a one month investigation.

The search warrant resulted in the following items being seized: 111.6 grams of Marijuana worth an estimated $1100.00; $619.00 in U.S. Currency; One Walther BB pistol; .22 handgun (stolen); and a Mossberg shotgun.

The suspect, Ofori Holmes was arrested along with Elijah Holmes and Daven Williams, all whom reside in Lexington Park, Md. All subjects were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged with Possession of Marijuana. The case will be reviewed by the State's Attorney Office for Criminal Indictments.
