MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

MARIJUANA ARREST: On Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 9:43 p.m., TFC E. M. Evans was patrolling the Great Mills Road area in Lexington Park when a Honda Civic car pulled along side of TFC Evans' vehicle. TFC Evans observed the female driver smoking what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette. A strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from her vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Stephanie Michelle Wood, 18, of Germantown, Maryland. Ms. Wood was arrested for possession of marijuana. A search incident to arrest also revealed she had in her possession a plastic bag containing marijuana and a silver canister containing marijuana residue. Ms. Wood was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

THEFT OVER $500: On Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 2:43 a.m., TFC J. G. Fleetwood was responding to a report of a domestic assault in the 29000 block of Allison Circle in Mechanicsville. A lookout was given for a gray passenger leaving the area. TFC Fleetwood initiated a traffic stop on the gray passenger car and later identified the passenger as the suspect, Kendall Shane Zigler, 19, of Mechanicsville. The suspect was returned to the residence in the 29000 block of Allison Circle in Mechanicsville. Further investigation revealed the domestic assault was unfounded. Additional information was learned that Mr. Zigler had removed money from the residence earlier and on several other occasions. Mr. Zigler was placed under arrest and charged with theft over $500. He was later transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

SUSPICIOUS UPS DELIVERY: On Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 12:18 p.m., TFC R. B. Rezza responded to the 21000 block of Clipper Drive in Great Mills for the report of a theft. TFC Rezza contacted the victim, a 29 year old female at the residence. The investigation revealed an unknown black male dressed in a brown UPS style uniform arrived at the residence in an older model red sedan. The victim was expecting a package delivery from UPS. The victim observed the suspect place a brown box in the trash can in front of her residence, return to the vehicle and left the area. The victim retrieved the box from the trash to find the package addressed to her empty. This investigation is continuing.
