St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports

Juvenile accused of skimming $2,200 from cash register at Great Mills Sheetz

LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Shawn Carberry located and arrested Eddie Carter (Age 35 of Manassas, Virginia) for an outstanding District Court warrant. The warrant was related to several Violations of Probation.

Deputy David Corcoran conducted a traffic stop on Pegg's Road and subsequently arrested Charles Vaselle Freeman (Age 22 of Lexington Park) for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended Maryland State driver's license. A search incident to that arrest revealed a folded dollar bill containing approximately $40.00 worth of powdered cocaine. Suspect Freeman was charged with Driving While Suspended and Possession of Cocaine.

Deputy Kevin Meyer responded to the Sheetz store in Great Mills for the reported theft. As the investigation progressed, Deputy Meyer was able to determine that a 16 year old Great Mills juvenile, who was an employee of the establishment, had been conducting a theft scheme. He would falsely input information into the cashier system and then remove funds from the register. $650.00 was located on the Suspect and identified as belonging to Sheetz. Additional thefts were uncovered, with the total amount exceeding $2,200.00. The juvenile suspect was arrested and transported to Cheltenham Youth Facility until a hearing is held before the Juvenile Court.
