MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On December 4, 2006 at 7:40 pm, TFC Quade was patrolling Route 235 in the area of Loveville Road in Mechanicsville when he initiated a routine traffic stop on a Ford truck after observing the driver was not wearing his seat belt. The driver, James Roy Chase, 56 of Mechanicsville was contacted and a MVA check revealed Mr. Chase's driver's license was suspended. He was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Chase was in possession of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, several prescription medications (Percocet, Clanapin, Methadone) and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Chase was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On December 5, 2006 at 10:32 am, TFC Linger was patrolling on Rt. 235 in the area of Oakville Rd., Mechanicsville when he initiated a traffic stop on a Ford F-150 for a seat belt violation by the passenger. Contact was made with both the driver, William Allen Carter, Jr., 40 of Chesapeake Beach and the passenger, Andre Lamont Walker, 37 of Bowie. Mr. Walker was cited for the seat belt violation. During the course of the traffic stop, TFC Linger observed a plastic bag containing cocaine in the vehicle cup holder. Mr. Carter and Mr. Walker were arrested for possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On December 5, 2006 at 6:06 pm, TFC Rezza responded to a burglary in the 26000 block of Three Notch Rd. in Mechanicsville. Contact was made with a female, 66 of Mechanicsville who advised her residence was burglarized and several items were taken. Investigation continues.

On December 6, 2006 at 4:42 am, TFC Evans was assisting with the execution of a Search & Seizure Warrant in the 28000 block of Patch of Woods Lane in Mechanicsville. Brett L. Barber, 28 of Mechanicsville became disorderly and hindered the execution of the Search Warrant. Mr. Barber was subsequently arrested for hindering and resisting arrest. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On December 6, 2006 at 6:59 am, TFC Trossbach was travelling northbound Rt. 5 in Leonardtown. A routine traffic stop was initiated on a Ford Mustang for failing to yield the right of way. Contact was made with the driver, Anthony Joseph Buell, 41 of Leonardtown. A check through MVA revealed Mr. Buell's driver's license was suspended and he was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Buell was in possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Buell was transported to St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On December 6, 2006 at 10:39 am TFC Linger was patrolling Rt. 5 in Mechanicsville when he observed a Chevrolet Monte Carlo southbound on Rt. 5. The driver was not wearing his seat belt and a routine traffic stop was initiated. Contact was made with the driver, a 17 year old black male of Mechanicsville. A strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from his person and the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a cigarette box on the rear seat containing a plastic baggie of marijuana. The juvenile was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack where he was processed and later released to a family member.

On December 6, 2006 at 7:00 pm, TFC Quade was patrolling on Rt. 237 in the Lexington Park area when he observed a Lincoln Town Car exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine traffic stop was initiated. During the course of the traffic stop, a blue metal smoking device containing marijuana residue was located in the vehicle. The driver, Branden Lane Welday, 19 of Great Mills, was issued a Criminal Citation and released at the scene.
