LEONARDTOWN, Md. - Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano, today announced that the St. Mary's County Board of Education made three administrative appointments during its meeting of November 29, 2006.
The Board appointed Ms. Lisa Brubacher to the position of supervisor of food and nutrition services in the Division of Supporting Services. Ms. Brubacher has served as the interim supervisor of food and nutrition services since August 2006. Prior to this, she served as a food service specialist for the school system. Her experience also includes serving as a clinical dietitian for St. Mary's Hospital. Ms. Brubacher earned her Master of Science degree in human nutrition and foods from Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University and her Bachelor of Science degree in the same concentration from Florida State University.
Ms. Crystal Brookens was named curriculum program coordinator for mathematics in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She most recently served as an instructional resource teacher at Esperanza Middle School. Ms. Brookens, who joined the school system in 1993 as an elementary classroom teacher, earned her Master's degree in reading from Towson University and her Bachelor's degree in education from Lock Haven University.
Additionally, the Board named Ms. Tenina Fleming to the position of assistant principal at Leonardtown Middle School. Ms. Fleming comes to the school system from Friendship Southeast Academy in Washington, DC, where she served as the school's principal. Her experience also includes serving as an academy director, lead teacher, and resident teacher. Ms. Fleming is a graduate of Trinity College, where she earned a Master's degree in educational administration, and the University of the District of Columbia, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in elementary education.
