MSP Drug and Alcohol Arrests for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following drug and alcohol-related incident and arrest reports.

On Friday, November 3, 2006 at 4:00am, TFC Laney was patrolling on Route 4 in California. A routine traffic stop was initiated on a Buick Century for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact was made with the driver, Herbert Goodhue Lord, 38 of Leonardtown. Mr. Lord was found to driving under the influence and was subsequently arrested. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Lord was transported to the St Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 9:56pm, TFC Quade was patrolling Route 235 in the area of Pegg Road in Lexington Park when he conducted a routine traffic stop of a Chevrolet Geo after observing the driver was not wearing his seat belt. The driver was identified as George Philip Arter, 23 of Lexington Park. A check through MVA indicated Mr. Arter was driving without a license. A small plastic bag of marijuana was found on Mr. Arter. He was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 7:30 am, TFC Trossbach was patrolling in the area of Cedar Lane Road and St. Johns Road, Hollywood. TFC Trossbach observed a green pickup truck exceeding the posted speed limit and initiated a routine traffic stop. Following an investigation, the driver, Anthony Gregory Dickens, Jr., 37 of Leonardtown, was arrested for possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Dickens was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Thursday, November 23, 2006 at 4:00am, TFC Quade was patrolling Route 235, Lexington Park, when he observed a 2006 Hyundai exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Emily Alexis Schmidt, 20 of Park Hall. After failing several field sobriety tests, the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Schmidt was found also found to be carrying a single white pill on her person which was later identified as Acetaminophen-Oxycodone. Ms. Schmidt was charged with DUI and possession of Acetaminophen-Oxycodone. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 12:40pm, TFC Evans was patrolling on Route 247, in the Mechanicsville area. TFC Evans stopped a Pontiac Bonneville for a routine traffic violation. Upon contact with the driver, Robert Calvin Toye, 53 of Mechanicsville, a CDS smoking device was observed in plain view in the vehicle. Following his arrest, two small bags of marijuana were located on his person. Mr. Toye was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
