Charles County Sheriff's Reports: Armed Robbery, Burglary


LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ARMED ROBBERY: On Nov. 15 at 11:46 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Burchmart located at 10195B Berry Road in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed the suspect approached the counter, brandished a handgun and demanded money. When the employee, a 30-year-old Mechanicsville woman, opened the cash register, the suspect reached over and grabbed the money from the drawer. The suspect then fled on foot toward McDaniel Road.

The suspect is described as a light-complexioned black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head and a sleeveless vest.

The clerk and two other employees, a 20-year-old man and a 59-year-old man, who were also in the store, were not injured.

BURGLARY: Sometime between 9 p.m. Nov. 12 and 1 p.m. Nov. 14, suspect(s) cut a phone line and entered a basement window of a residence in the 4200 block of Jambeau Place in White Plains. The suspect(s) stole watches, a television, a laptop and a digital camera. The suspect(s) also damaged several walls and air vents in the residence.
