CHARLES COUNTY, Md. - The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Charles County today until 5 p.m. that extends from Waldorf south to the Harry W. Nice Bridge in Newburg.
A tornado watch in effect for Charles County until 6 p.m. today.
Low-lying areas throughout the County will be subject to flooding. Please heed the "High Water" signs that are being posted by the Charles County Department of Public Facilities Roads Division. Do not attempt to walk or drive through floodwater or water on a road. The water can be deeper and faster than it appears. Two feet of water can float most cars, and not much more will float a large pickup.
A costal flood warning is in effect in Charles County until noon tomorrow (Friday, November 17, 2006). Affected areas include, but are not limited to, Benedict and Cobb Island. Tides are expected to be 1 to 1-1/2 feet above normal.
Boat owners should take precautions to secure their boats.
