LETTER: Calvert Sheriff Evans Thanks Citizens for Election Win

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizens of Calvert County for their vote of confidence in the recent election. It has been my honor to serve each and every citizen of Calvert County regardless of your party affiliation.

I pledge to each of you to remain vigilant in my efforts to keep Calvert County one of the safest places in the state to live. I will remain aggressive in our efforts to reduce crime and make our roadways a safer place to travel upon. I will continue to challenge my staff to develop programs, incorporate new initiatives, expand on current successful programs and find better, more efficient and more effective ways to better serve our citizens.

We WILL continue to educate our children through the D.A.R.E. Program. We will continue providing the homeland security efforts each of you have become accustomed to, and we will work closely with our partners in law enforcement; the Maryland State Police, the Calvert County State's Attorney's Office, the Natural Resources Police, and those partners in the surrounding jurisdictions to ensure the protection of our citizens.

I am humbled by the support I received while campaigning throughout the county. To each of you that supported our efforts I am eternally grateful. To each of you that voted for my opponent, I hope my actions over the next four years will make each of you choose to support me in 2010.

Thank You,
Sheriff Mike Evans

Editor's Note: Sheriff Evans (R) yesterday defeated his opponent Joey McKenney (D) by 15,022 to 11,538 votes. McKenney also had the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #109, located in Prince Frederick.
