MECHANICSVILLE, Md. - The St. Mary's County Department of Public Works and Transportation just reported that Mechanicsville Road has approximately 4-5 inches of water flowing over the roadway. The existing High Water Signs with flashers have been activated and High Water Signs are also posted on lighted barricades at the approach to the limits of the flooding on either side.
The location of the flooding is in the vicinity of Chaptico Creek and Coffee Hill Run on the MD 234 end of Mechanicsville Road. The roadway remains open at this time.
Officials urge motorists to drive with caution in this area and on all other roadways. Leaves from trees on the roadway surface can make an already wet pavement condition even more slippery.
If you observe any flooding conditions across roadways within the County, officials request that you contact the Department of Public Works and Transportation at (301) 863-8400.
