St. Mary's County Sheriff David D. Zylak announced yesterday that St. Mary's County has been selected as a National Award Winner for its outstanding participating in the 23rd Annual National Night Out (NNO) crime, drug, and violence prevention program.
This year's event was the largest ever--involving 35.2 million people in 11,125 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide. There were hundreds of entries in the St. Mary's County population category of 50,000 to 99,999 people.
The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) was responsible for selecting the top entries for national recognition.
