LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

KNIFE BATTLE AT POINT LOOKOUT: On Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 12:45 am, Tpr. Long responded to Point Lookout State Park for a reported assault. Investigation revealed the victim was awakened by Christopher John Forker, 25, of Greenbelt, to go fishing. Victim #1 became enraged and knocked Mr. Forker to the ground. As victim #1 was holding him down, Mr. Forker grabbed his fillet knife and pulled victim #1 closer. This caused a laceration to the victim’s shoulder.

Victim #1 left the scene only to return approximately 15 minutes later and push Mr. Forker as he was attempting to cast a fishing line; causing a minor laceration to Mr. Forker’s shin. Victim #1 then threw the fillet knife, tackle box, and other fishing items into the water. Mr. Forker, victim #1 and victim #2 became engaged in a physical altercation, causing minor lacerations to victim #2’s knees, hand and cheek.

When victim #2 called 911, victim #1 fled the scene.

A search for victim #1 was conducted utilizing a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and Maryland State Police helicopter. Victim #1 could not be located.

Approximately 4 hours later, Deputy Maguire stopped a vehicle and found all three subjects inside. Victim #1 had a large, deep laceration to his shoulder and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. Mr. Forker was arrested and charged with 1st degree assault. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review.

This case is continuing with additional charges pending.

DRUG ARREST AND DRIVING WITH NO LICENSE: On Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 4:17 pm, TFC Linger observed a vehicle being driven by Charles Edwin Compton, 19, of Bryans Road. From past encounters with Mr. Compton, TFC Linger knew he did not have a license and his privilege to driver was suspended. A check through MVA indicated Mr. Compton was still suspended.

The vehicle was stopped on Route 5 at Route 249 in Callaway. Upon stopping Mr. Compton immediately exited the vehicle. As TFC Linger was talking to Mr. Compton, the passenger, Kristel Ann King, 22, of Leonardtown, got out and ran back towards TFC Linger. Mr. Compton then reached into the vehicle, grabbed a bag and attempted to flee the scene on foot.

After a short chase, Mr. Compton was apprehended. A search of the bag revealed cocaine and CDS smoking devices.

Upon arrival back at the scene, a witness advised that Ms. King was observed hiding something in the yard of a nearby residence. A smoking device containing cocaine was located.

Both Mr. Compton and Ms. King were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Compton was also charged with driving while suspended and driving without a license.

Both were taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review.
