Stranded Man Robbed and Beaten in Mechanicsville


Quick thinking family members lead police to the suspects

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. - According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department, an undisclosed victim experienced vehicle trouble after dropping off a friend in the Mechanicsville area. The victim contacted his father and brother and requested that they come to assist him.

While waiting for his family's arrival, the victim was approached by two males. They questioned who he was and demanded money. When no wallet or money could be found on the victim, the two men began to assault him. The victim was punched and kicked as well as struck with a glass bottle. The victim believed that he had been "pistol whipped."

The two men fled in their vehicle as the family members arrived. The victim's father discovered him lying in a ditch along side of the road. He was suffering from injuries to his face, arms, and body.

The victim's family drove through a nearby neighborhood in an attempt to locate the vehicle that they saw flee from the scene. Upon locating it, they notified the police.

Deputy Logalbo arrived at the residence where the suspect's vehicle was parked. The Deputy discovered two men inside of the residence. One of the suspects was smoking marijuana according to the Deputy. Both suspects were arrested after being positively identified by the victim.

Chris Ricardo Colbert, age 21 of Mechanicsville, was arrested and charged with First Degree Assault and Robbery.

Eric Lamar Carter, age 18, was arrested and charged with First Degree Assault, Robbery and possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia.
