LA PLATA, Md. - Gerri Burson of White Plains was named Charles Countys Most Beautiful Person at the 20th Annual Charles County Recognition Ceremony and Reception held Monday, October 16, at the Charles County Government Building. Gerri will represent the County at a statewide awards ceremony with Governor Erhlich scheduled to take place November 2, in Baltimore. Runner-ups were Joyce B. Simpson of Waldorf and Norena Toyer of Marbury.
In addition to Burson, Simpson and Toyer, 16 other County residents, and two group programs were nominated as Charles Countys Beautiful Citizens and recognized at Mondays ceremony. They included: Linda Adgate; Lona Boggs; Darlene Breck; Cheyenne Brown; Tim Butts; Margaret Champagne; David Gardiner; Carol Ghebelian; Peter Headen; Bonnie Ickes; Deborah Linder; Trey Reece; Ken Stout; George Wathen, M.D.; Roberta Wearmouth; Patricia Wood; the FISH Program; and the Town of Indian Head Community Activities Committee.
The Maryland You Are Beautiful Volunteer Awards Program, held in conjunction with the Charles County Commissioners, the Office of Tourism, the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development and the Governors Office, honors the unsung heroes who generously volunteer their time, energy and talents to help make Charles County a better place to live, work and visit.
