Bat Man Arrested in Hollywood

LEONARDTOWN, MD—On Monday, October 9, 2006 at 2:30 pm, TFC Linger of the Maryland State Police (MSP) Leonardtown Barrack responded to Route 235 and Jones Wharf Road in Hollywood, for a report of a male jumping in and out of traffic swinging a baseball bat. Upon arrival, the man was observed and ordered to drop the bat. After numerous verbal commands, he finally dropped the bat.

He identified himself to police as a 13 year old. From his appearance it was obvious he was not 13.

During a pat down, for officer safety, two serrated kitchen knives were found in his pocket. He was placed under arrest. He continued to give the name “P.J. Brown”, age 13.

As he was being placed into the patrol vehicle, he resisted and struggled to get free. Once in the vehicle, the male spit on TFC Linger and on the interior to the vehicle.

The subject was taken to the detention center where he was identified as Michael Tyree Mitchell, 23, of Great Mills. Mr. Mitchell was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of concealed deadly weapon and false statement to a police officer.

He was held pending a bond review.
