MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


On Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 11:00 pm, Tpr. D. Brill stopped a vehicle for failing to drive in a single lane on Route 4 at S. Patuxent Beach Road, California. Upon contact with the driver, Lawrence Jerome Somerville Jr., 46, of Clements, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Mr. Somerville was subsequently arrested for DUI. A check through MVA indicated his license to drive was suspended and revoked. A search of his person revealed a plastic bag containing cocaine and a piece of crack cocaine in his mouth. Mr. Somerville was charged with DUI, possession of cocaine, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and driving while revoked. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review.

On Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 1:38 am, TFC M. Moore responded to 46568 Valley Court, Lexington Park, for reported shots fired. During the investigation TFC Moore approached a subject, for questioning, the subject fled. The subject ran into the basement of an apartment complex and became uncooperative. During a pat down for weapons, a smoking device containing cocaine was found in the subject’s pants pocket. An additional search, incident to arrest, revealed another smoking device and a bag, both containing cocaine. The subject was arrested and taken to the detention center. He was identified as George Patrick Holt, 40, of Charlotte Hall. Mr. Holt was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was held pending a bond review.

The shots fired complaint was unfounded.

On Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 9:25 am, TFC L. Nims stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 5 at Route 242, Oraville. Upon contact with the driver, James Cornell Barnes Jr., 31, of Leonardtown, and odor of marijuana was detected. A probable cause search was conducted. Located in the map pocket of the passenger seat was a bag of marijuana. Mr. Barnes was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review.

On Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 12:00 pm, TFC L. Nims responded to Willow Road, Lexington Park, for a reported assault. The victim advised there was a current protective order against Patrick Wayne Adams, 46, of Lexington Park. Mr. Adams was ordered not to harass, assault, or enter the residence of the victim. Mr. Adams entered the residence, grabbed the victim’s arm and twisted it causing minor injuries. Mr. Adams was contacted. While being arrested, Mr. Adams became disorderly. He kicked TFC Nims, and kicked the patrol vehicle causing damage. Mr. Adams was arrested and charged with assault on TFC Nims and the victim, violation of a protective order, disorderly conduct, and destruction to state property. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review.

On Monday, October 2, 2006 at 4:40 am, officers responded to the Relax Inn, Leonardtown, for a reported disorderly subject. The subject, identified as Dean Erick Chance, 33, of Leonardtown, was told by management he was not permitted on the property. At that time he was served with a No Trespassing notice by a Deputy and escorted off the property.

At 6:00 am, TFC M. Moore responded to the Relax Inn for a reported trespassing. Investigation revealed Mr. Chance had returned to the property and was again disturbing the guests. Mr. Chance was arrested and charged with trespassing. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review.
