Triple Shooting in The Park Leaves Two Dead


According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department, on September 26, 2006 at approximately 8:50 p.m., a triple-shooting occurred on Rominger Court in the Westbury neighborhood in Lexington Park, MD. Jonathan Blake Howard of Upper Marlboro, MD, went to his estranged wife's residence armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Once at the residence, Howard fired several shots through the back door of the residence to gain entry. Once inside, Howard confronted Jacqueline Michelle Howard and another man identified as Mark Allen Peterson of Bowie, Maryland. The suspect, Jonathon Howard is legally separated from the victim.

The suspect fired several shots inside the residence striking victim Howard once in the left leg and victim Peterson at least four times in the chest. Victim Howard was able to flee the residence but was pursued by suspect Howard and caught in the street where he physically assaulted her further. The suspect then fled down the street where he shot himself one time in the chest and collapsed.

Victim Jacqueline Howard was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment. Victim Mark Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene along with suspect Jonathan Howard.
