Are your employees finding it financially challenging to purchase a home in St. Marys County? Do you wish there were incentives to help you retain your workforce and attract new employees to live in St. Marys County? If your answer to both questions is yes, there is something your company can do
Mark your calendar to attend the House Keys 4 Employees Breakfast Seminar on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center.
The St. Marys County Department of Economic & Community Development (DECD) and St. Marys County Chamber Commerce will be hosting Representatives from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to present local employers with information on partnering with the State to implement a version of the States House Keys 4 Employees Program, a down payment and closing cost assistance program for local employees.
On Tuesday, June 13, 2006, The Board of Commissioners for St. Marys County officially signed a resolution partnering with DHCD to implement its version of the House Keys 4 St. Marys County Employees Program (HK4SMC). The homeownership and mortgage assistance program is matched by the state to assist eligible employees of the St. Marys County Commissioners, St. Marys County Library Board of Trustees, St. Marys County Board of Education or volunteers of Fire, Rescue and Advanced Life Support (ALS) units.
HK4SMC enables eligible SMC employees by financially contributing a grant of $5,000 toward down payment and/or closing cost assistance for the purchase of home in St. Marys County. Through a combination of County and State funds eligible, SMC employees could receive $15,000 toward the cost of purchasing a home in St. Marys County.
