On Sept. 25 at 10:56 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Rooks Head Place in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 19-year-old Waldorf boy, was walking on Wakefield Circle near Ulster Court when a black Chevrolet Impala stopped next to him. The passenger opened the window, brandished a handgun and ordered him to the ground and to empty his pockets. The driver exited the vehicle and punched the victim in the face. The suspects then fled the scene.
A description of the Impala was broadcast and Officer M. Kennedy located the vehicle a short time later and conducted a traffic stop. The suspects, Xavier Deangelo Green, 18, of Clinton and Travis Anthony Veney, 17, of Brandywine, were arrested.
Officers found a BB gun during a subsequent search of the vehicle. Green and Veney, who was charged as an adult, were charged with robbery, first-degree assault, theft valued at less than $500, second-degree assault, carrying or wearing a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a handgun in the commission of a felony and possession of burglary tools in a motor vehicle. They were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer C. Shaw investigated.
