As of 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has reduced the number of customer-members without power to approximately 2,251 following the wake of Tropical Depression Ernesto.
Number of customers affected in Calvert County: approximately 425 concentrated in the southern portion of the county.
All customers in Charles and Prince Georges counties affected by Ernesto have been restored.
Number of customers affected in St. Marys County: approximately 1,826.
SMECO is working to clear fallen trees and limbs that have interfered with our electric system, as well as perform conductor repairs. Trees and limbs weakened by Ernestos winds on Friday continue to fall on power lines. SMECO crews are working in every region of the service area, along with contractor crews and office personnel. Repairs will also be made to the single remaining transmission circuit that is currently out of service. All SMECO substations are energized.
