A flood warning is in effect for St. Marys County. Be advised of rising waters in coastal and flood prone areas.
Mandatory evacuations are issued for the following areas:
St. Georges Island
Breton Beach
Cornfield Harbor
Leonardtown High School opens as a shelter for residents at 3:00 p.m. today. Residents should bring any personal items and medications to the shelter. Pets are not allowed in the shelter; however, animal wardens will assist in transporting pets to the St. Marys County Fairgrounds for care.
The following roadways are reporting major flooding (more than 6 inches) at this time and have been closed:
Cornfield Harbor Road and Drive in Scotland have been closed.
Old Breton Beach Road from Farrall Lane
Please drive with extreme caution on all roadways at this time.
Sandbags are still available to County Residents who reside in coastal areas that are subject to storm surges and flooding. The stockpiles of sandbags will be located at the Charlotte Hall, Ridge, Valley Lee, Oakville, and Clements Transfer Stations. Approximately 300 sandbags will be available at each location on a first come first served basis. Attendants at each site will distribute 8 to 10 bags per household.
