The Charles County Commissioners announced today that the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Charles County Department of Fiscal Services Accounting Division for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2005. This is the fourth consecutive year the Accounting Division has received this award, presented by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. It is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The Countys CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which included demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate the Countys financial story and motivate potential users groups to read the CAFR.
This award represents a significant accomplishment by our Accounting Division, and demonstrates their commitment to the highest principles of government accounting and financial reporting, said the County Commissioners.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 14,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.
