HIT AND RUN: On Aug. 23 at 10:35 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the bike path in the 2000 block of Edinburgh Court in Waldorf for the report of a woman lying on the bike path. Officers responded and found the woman suffering from multiple injuries. She was identified as a 20-year-old Waldorf resident and investigation revealed she was struck by a vehicle while jogging on the path. The victim was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. T. Miner at 301-609-6499.
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On Aug. 23 at 2:15 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Comfort Suites located at 11765 Business Park Drive in Waldorf for the report of a hold-up alarm. Investigation revealed the clerk, a 23-year-old Waldorf man, saw a man with a gun walk up to the locked front door of the business and attempt to enter. The clerk activated the hold-up alarm and fled the front desk area. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival. The suspect is described as a black male who weighs 210 pounds and is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The suspect fled the scene in a late model Buick four-door vehicle, possibly gold in color.
