The St. Mary's County Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services announced today that the Skate Park at Nicolet Park will host the final event of the Mid-Atlantic Skateboard Series on Saturday, August 26, 2006 (rain date is Sunday, August 27, 2006). This is the fourth annual event and the fourth year the final event has been held in St. Mary's County. The event is expected to draw skateboarders from various Mid-Atlantic States - some traveling from as far away as Maine and Florida.
Registration for the event begins at 8:00 a.m. and the competition starts at 9:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will be held immediately after the last competitive session. All skaters will need to complete a waiver form at the skate park before competing. Each of the nine bowl classes and three street classes will skate in jam session format (similar to a normal skate park session). Judges will identify the top four skaters in each class; everyone else will be "tied for fifth place."

The Skate Park at Nicolet Park is located at 21777 Bunker Hill Drive, in Lexington Park, Maryland. From MD 235 in Lexington Park turn onto Great Mills Road (MD 246), turn right on Midway Drive across from the CVS Pharmacy, then turn right on Bunker Hill Drive to the park. From MD 5 in Great Mills, turn onto Great Mills Road, turn left on Midway Drive, then turn right on Bunker Hill Road.
