MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


On Sunday, August 20, 2006, TFC J. Fleetwood responded to the Wildewood Community Pool for a reported burglary. The complainant advised that between August 19, 2006 at 10:00 pm and August 20, 2006 at 10:45 am, someone entered the pool office and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and a laptop computer. This is the 4th burglary at the community center in the past month. It is requested that anyone with any information regarding these crimes contact the Maryland State Police at 301-475-8955. On Friday, August 18, 2006, Tpr. E. Evans stopped a vehicle for failing to keep right of center on Maple Road at Route 235 in Lexington Park. Upon contact with the driver, Jeremy John Weller, 25, of Lexington Park, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Mr. Weller was subsequently arrested for DUI. A probable cause search was conducted. Located in the center console was a bag of marijuana. Mr. Weller was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia, DUI and other related traffic charges. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. On Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 1:20 am, TFC L. Nims responded to the Mouse Trap Bar, Mechanicsville, for the report of a juvenile attempting to purchase alcoholic products. Investigation revealed that Henry Alvin Meinhardt 4th, 18, of Mechanicsville, attempted to buy alcoholic products using a driver’s license he found. Upon contact with Mr. Meinhardt, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. The license was confiscated and returned to MVA. Mr. Meinhardt was issued a citation for attempting to purchase alcoholic beverage by someone under the age of 21. Due to his intoxicated state he was release from the scene to his mother. On Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 2:49 pm, TFC L. Nims stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 235 at Rescue Lane in Hollywood. Upon contact with the 17 year old driver, an open pack of cigarettes was observed. A probable cause search was conducted. Six additional unopened packs of cigarettes and two opened packs of cigarettes were located. The juvenile was issued a citation for possessing cigarettes while under the legal age of 18. On Wednesday, August 16, 2006, Edward Brian Harris, 37, of Mechanicsville, was extradited from Virginia and taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Mr. Harris was served with two bench warrants for failing to appear in court on charges of rogue and vagabond, and possession of CDS-not marijuana. A bond of $3,500 had been placed on both warrants. He was also served with three arrest warrants for possession of CDS-not marijuana, 2nd degree burglary, theft over $500, and motor vehicle theft. He was held pending a bond review by the commissioner. (0Q00031696)

On Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 3:30 pm, Tpr. K. Shughart arrested Aaron William Smithers, 26, of Avenue, on a bench warrant for failing to appear in court on a DUI charge. He was taken to the detention center and held until posting a $5,000 bond. (DX94871)

On Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 12:18 am, TFC L. Nims arrested Joseph W. Butler, 40, of Leonardtown, on a bench warrant for failing to pay a deferred payment of $308. He was taken to the detention center and held until posting a bail of $308. (2Q00033126)

On Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 6:20 pm, TFC L. Nims arrested Richard R. Dent, 25, of Mechanicsville, on a bench warrant for failing to pay a deferred payment of $150. He was taken to the detention center and held until posting a bail of $150. (3Q00032980)
