BURGLARY: On 8-7, an employee of H & R Block, Village Center Dr., Lusby, reported that an unknown culprit had entered the building and stolen two Hewlett Packard 15 color monitors and a Brother laser printer. The culprit(s) also damaged two other monitors. CIT is handling the investigation.
THEFT: During the overnight hours of 8-10, an unknown culprit entered three vehicles parked on Bald Eagle Ln., Lusby, and removed a fingernail clipper kit, a Sony portable CD player, and currency. TFC Lashley is handling the investigation.
THEFT: On 8-12, TFC Lashley responded to Sandy Wash Cir., Lusby, for a mail tampering complaint. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had removed mail from 8 mailboxes and stolen 6 bottles of medication, an amethyst ring, stainless steel belly rings, and a pair of heart-shaped earrings.
POSSESSION OF COCAINE: On 8-14, 4:00 AM, Rt. 2/4, Prince Frederick, TFC Whipp stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The operator, Carl William Beatty, IV, 24, of Lexington Park, was found to be driving on a suspended license. Incident to arrest, a search was conducted of the vehicle and CDS paraphernalia containing suspected cocaine residue and a baggie of prescription medication were located. Mr. Beatty was then additionally charged with possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. A passenger, Theon Estep Franklin 35, of Lusby, was placed under arrest for possession of CDS paraphernalia, possession of a non-controlled substance, and removal of prescription labels. After processing, the two were incarcerated in the CCDC to await a commissioners hearing.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 8-15, 7:55 PM, Rt. 4, Dunkirk, TFC Koch stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the occupants, TFC Koch detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A search was conducted and suspected marijuana and $80,000.00 in US currency were removed from the vehicle. Arrested at that time for possession of marijuana were Larry Daniel Hunter, Jr., 28, of Laurel, and Christopher Cyprus Crawford, 24, of Ft. Washington. The money will be held pending forfeiture proceedings. After processing, both men were incarcerated in the CCDC to await a commissioners hearing.
