HATE CRIME: On Aug. 11 at 8:50 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the 7300 block of Brentland Road in Port Tobacco for the report of racial graffiti painted on the roadway. Investigation revealed the suspect(s) had written the remarks with white paint and had been seen by a citizen for approximately two weeks. The remarks included white pride, I followed by the shape of a heart whites, white rights and a swastika. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffs Office at 301-932-2222. Officer C. Caldwell is investigating.
ATTEMPTED BREAKING AND ENTERING: On Aug. 11 at 12:08 a.m., Officer R. Gottschall observed a suspicious person huddled around the fence of Mikes Auto Body located at 2431 Old Washington Road in Waldorf. Investigation revealed there were two suspects and they were found to be in possession of wire cutters and a window punch. Both suspects had on dark clothing and possessed gloves. The fence was checked where the suspects were observed and was found to have been cut. The suspects were identified as Henry William Cole, 18, of Waldorf and Johnlonne Johnkal Murphy, 18, of Washington, D.C. They were arrested and charged with attempted breaking and entering and destruction of property less than $500. Cole and Murphy were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer C. Shaw investigated.
ARMED ROBBERY: On Aug. 10 at 11:25 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 1120 block of Heritage Place in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed the victim, a 19-year-old Waldorf man, had delivered a pizza to a residence and was walking to his vehicle when a male suspect approached him and brandished a handgun. The suspect stole cash and a cell phone and was last seen on foot heading toward St. Ignatius Drive. The suspect is described as a medium build black male, late teens to early twenties, 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was wearing a black hooded shirt, gray sweatpants and black shoes.
