RESISTING ARREST: On Aug. 5 at 2:40 a.m., Officer K. Evans conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle at St. Charles Parkway and St. Ignatius Drive in Waldorf. Officer Evans and Officer C. Shaw ordered the driver several times to exit the vehicle; he refused and put his seatbelt back on. After a brief struggle, officers removed him from the vehicle. He was arrested and identified as Anthony Wesley Petty, 22, of Waldorf. In a search subsequent to arrest, officers found a large machete under the driver’s seat. Petty was charged with carrying a weapon, failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer K. Evans investigated.

THEFT: Sometime between 11 p.m. July 31 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 1, suspect(s) stole a gray and black 2003 Polaris Predator four-wheeler with red trim from a residence in the 8300 block of Hawthorne Road in La Plata. The four-wheeler was for sale and chained to the front porch handrail of the residence. The suspect(s) cut the chain with an unknown object. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222. Officer C. Caldwell is investigating.
