Drug & DUI Arrests by St. Mary's County MSP


On Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 1:14 am, TFC Linger attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Old Village Road, Mechanicsville. As the vehicle continued, at a reduced speed, the driver was observed to be constantly moving around. When the vehicle stopped, the driver was removed for officer safety. As the driver exited the vehicle a bulge was observed in his waist band. The item was removed and found to be a soda can containing cocaine. The driver, Mark Travic Grove, 21, of Mechanicsville, was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest revealed a bag, containing crack cocaine, in his waistband. Mr. Grove was taken to the detention center, charged with possession of cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was held pending a bond review. (0682008420)

On Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 1:16 am, TFC Linger stopped a vehicle on Route 5 at Mt. Wolf Road, Charlotte Hall, for failing to reduce high beams. A check through MVA indicted the driver, Ernest Allen Harris, 46, of Suitland, had a suspended license. Mr. Harris was placed under arrest and charged with driving while suspended. During a search of the vehicle a plastic straw and a folded dollar bill, both containing cocaine, were found in the rear passenger seat area. The rear passenger, Johnnie Lee Chapman, 57, of Landover, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. On Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 4:17 pm, TFC Trossbach stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 242 at Bushwood Wharf Road in Bushwood. A check through MVA indicted the driver, Christopher John McHenry, 45, of Charlotte Hall, had a suspended license. A search, incident to arrest, revealed a bag of cocaine in his front pants pocket. Mr. McHenry was taken to the detention center, charged with driving while suspended, possession of cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was held pending a bond review. (0682008507)

On Sunday, August 7, 2006 at 12:44 am, Tpr. McCartney stopped a vehicle for displaying expired tags. Upon contact with the driver, Gary Wayne Peeling, 39, of Hollywood, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Mr. Peeling was subsequently arrested for DUI. A search of the vehicle, incident to arrest, revealed a bag of marijuana and a smoking device in the center console. Mr. Peeling was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review. (0682008523)
