Refund Dispute at Five Guys Leads to Two Arrests

According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department, on 08/01/2006 at approximately 2030 hours, deputies responded to Five Guys Restaurant on Worth Ave in California. Initially there was a report of a robbery in progress at the restaurant. A lookout was broadcast for the suspect vehicle leaving the scene.

The vehicle was almost immediately located by Deputy Charles A. J. Dodson in the Target parking lot. The vehicle was occupied by the driver and one passenger. Both were held for identification by the victim. The passenger, Lex Parker Reid, advised there had been no other people with them. A few minutes later, Dep. Dodson located a third suspect crouching in a dark corner of a nearby bank. This individual was detained as well. Subsequent investigation by Dep. Jason Graves revealed that the third suspect had been with Reid when he was at the Five Guys Restaurant.

The victim, who was the manager at the restaurant, advised officers that a man entered the restaurant and engaged him in a dispute over money. The man was later identified as Jeffrey Keith Reid.  Reid demanded that the money in question be refunded. When Reid's actions escalated, the manager moved toward his office. Reid grabbed the manager who was able to escape to the office and lock the door. Reid attempted to force his way into the room. The manager called the police and Reid fled the restaurant.
