On Wednesday, July 26, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. announced that the Board of Public Works approved $267,500 in Program Open Space funds for four development projects in Calvert County. Hallowing Point Field Lighting received $100,000 to install new lighting at their multi-use playing field. Dunkirk Park Field was granted $100,000 to develop a full size football/soccer field along with new field lighting, a parking lot, and restrooms. Both projects will use lighting that is night sky friendly to minimize light pollution. The Biscoe Gray Reserve was awarded $26,250 to develop a master plan for 210-acre Biscoe Gray Property, which would include early to mid-20th century agricultural interpretation, equestrian activities, pedestrian and interpretive trails and a canoe/kayak launch. Kings Landing Park-Horse Riding Ring received $41,250 to construct two riding rings for equestrian shows and a covered judges stand with electrical service, and to install water hydrants to provide water for the animals.
