VIOLATION OF PEACE ORDER: On July 24 at 3:51 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 4700 block of Vernick Lane in La Plata for the report of a peace order violation. Investigation revealed the respondent, Justin Bradley Corbin, 18, of La Plata violated a peace order by cursing at the petitioner. Corbin resisted arrest and was ultimately arrested after a brief struggle. He was charged with violating a peace order and resisting arrest. Corbin was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer L. Payne investigated.

ARMED CARJACKING: On July 23 at 9:35 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Enterprise Place in Waldorf for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed the victim, a 24-year-old Waldorf man, was cleaning his orange and black Kawasaki KFX 700 all-terrain vehicle when two males approached him. One suspect brandished a handgun and the second suspect got on the four-wheeler and demanded directions on how to start it. The victim complied and the first suspect got on the four-wheeler with the other suspect and they fled toward Acton Lane. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate either suspects or the four-wheeler. The suspects are described only as black males. Officer D. Baker is investigating.

BURGLARY: Sometime between 11 p.m. July 20 and 8 a.m. July 21, suspect(s) broke a window and gained entry into Paul's Lamps and Furniture located at 3306 Crain Highway in Waldorf. The suspect(s) stole two cash registers, cash, a double sword, several daggers and three pellet pistols with fake wood grips, then fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Hastings is investigating.

PEDESTRIAN CRASH: On July 20 at 9:08 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 100 block of Charles Street in La Plata for the report of a crash involving a pedestrian. Investigation revealed John Howard Coates, 48, of no fixed address was crossing Charles Street when he was struck by a westbound 2004 Ford Expedition operated by Bryan Carpenter, 33, of Port Republic. Coates sustained serious injuries and was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly. Coates was wearing dark clothing and was not crossing at a cross walk. Speed and driver error do not appear to be factors. Carpenter and his family, who were passengers, were not injured. Coates is listed in serious to critical condition. Cpl. S. Burrows of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.

THEFT: On July 15 at 8:17 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Target located at 3300 Western Parkway in Waldorf for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed the suspect placed 10 Samsung MP3 players in a shopping basket and exited the store without paying for them. The suspect is described as a black male between 25 and 35 years of age wearing a black T-shirt. The suspect may have exited the store via a fire exit. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Cooney is investigating.
