Lexington Park Burglary Sends Victim to Hospital with Gunshot Wound


According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department, on July 23, 2006, at 0046 hours, patrol officers responded to a residence located in Lexington Park, Maryland for a reported burglary. Upon contact with the victim, officers noticed that the victim was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. Medical treatment was provided and the victim was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment. Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded and assumed the investigation.

Further investigation revealed that while the victim was at the residence, several unknown male suspects forced entry into the residence. The suspects ransacked the residence and then engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. The victim was subsequently shot by one of the suspects. The suspects then departed the residence.

The victim remains at the hospital in critical but stable condition.
